Five Percenters, are mainly found up north, usually in NY/NJ area. The phrase 'word is bond,' also widely used by Five Percenters, who often.
Just listen to the intro to 7th chamber.
I was always wondering why they said something like 'guy or gaw' in allmost every song and I don't understand why.
I had to look up the lyrics to see what the word was they were saying, and it's 'god'.
What does 'god' mean in urban culture or rap culture like that? Can someone explain? I can't seem to make sense of it...
'Yo God, what's up God? It's the God, God, word is bond Yo what's up I'm ready to fucking lay... I'm ready to get busy, God, what's up? '
just as one example.
I've been told it is like NYC slang for bro, guy, etc. But how does 'its the god, god' make sense?

The sniper made a big deal of the phrase 'Word is Bond'. MSNBC went with the origin of the phrase being from a rap song. But it goes deeper than that. The phrase 'Word is Bond' is associated with the The Five Percent Nation :
The Five Percent Nation (or The Nation of Gods and Earths) is an offshoot of the NOI that was founded in 1964 by Clarence 'Pudding' 13X, who broke with Elijah Muhammad, changed his name to 'Allah,' and refashioned the theology of the Nation of Islam. He taught that the black man was God and that his proper name is 'Allah,' that 85 percent of the masses are ignorant and will never know the truth, that 10 percent of the people know the truth but use it to exploit and manipulate the 85 percent, and that only 5 percent of humanity understand the 'true divine nature of the black man who is God or Allah.'
...
Rap lyrics are laced with Five Percenter references (for example, on 'Rawhide,' Method Man rhymes, 'I fear for the 85 who don't got a clue'), and numerous hip hop expressions and slang derive directly from Five Percent Nation terminology. The expressions 'Word is bond,' 'Break it down,' 'Peace,' 'droppin' science' and 'represent' all come from Five Percenter ideology.
There also seems to be usage of the phrase 'WOrd is Bond' in conventional Nation of Islam, as indicated by this referenceLesson number one, question number 11 says:
HAVE YOU NOT LEARNED THAT YOUR WORD SHALL BE BOND REGARDLESS OF WHOM OR WHAT?
A. YES. MY WORD IS BOND AND BOND IS LIFE AND I WILL GIVE MY LIFE BEFORE MY WORD SHALL FAIL.
They showed it on local Seattle tv news.....a storefront mosque with name something like Ali Wazii....wish I'd written it down exactly. It was a slummy looking place.
This said, the Nation of Islam and its various incarnations are among my least favorite folks.
And THAT , is what it be like !
The Muslims also hold the Kabba stone as a point of worship. The Kabba is a meteorite. This fascination with the stars may explain the NoI's incorporation of UFO-ology and numerology in its belief system.
'I would not meet with him [Farrakhan] but I have the greatest respect and regard for Joe Lieberman,' Clinton said.
